Alexander Frolov invites you to walk along the secret lanes of the Zamoskvorechye.
Only in a few places of modern Moscow you can see our city almost the same as it was 100-150 years ago. One of these places is located between Pyatnitskaya and Polyanka. But even here, among small houses and preserved temples, a great imagination is required to enjoy the historical landscapes. The people of old Moscow were not like us, and the city looked in another way due to it.
At the evening walk, in addition to the architectural beauties of the estates, churches, philistine houses and charitable institutions, we will recall the inhabitants of Moscow. This is the holy John of Delights, under the windows of whose apartment we will stand. This is the most wealthy merchant of Russia in the mid-18th century Kuzma Matveev, whose house we’ll pass by. And finally, this is Andrei Savinov, personal friend and confessor of Tsar Alexis Mikhailovich, a man with the irrepressible ambition and the fine artistic taste, a good drinking compotator. Thanks to the ambitions of Father Andrey one of the most beautiful churches of the 17th century appeared in the Zamoskvorechye, at the walls of which we will finish our walk.
