Immersive theatre is a new concept for the Russian audience. An immersive performance engages audience members directly, making them active participants in the piece, giving them the freedom to choose their own path, to build their own story and react to the happenings.
“The Revenants” is the first successful project in Russia of this genre, comparable in scale to the famous shows in New York and Shanghai. At the beginning of November 2017 it was announced that the show has been nominated for the prestigious “Golden Mask” theatre award. Over 47,000 guests have already taken part in the show.
Migel, producer, director, choreographer:
“An immersive show of this scale is being staged in Russia for the first time. Theatre is constantly evolving and exploring new art forms. The professionalism of my team, and our innovative approach to what we do deserve a special mention. We are incredibly happy that our project has been received so well by the professional community.”
Immersive theatre emerged in the USA at the beginning of the 20th century but for the Russian audience this is a new genre. The project was brought to life by an international team. American directors Victor Carinha and Mia Zanette brought to Russia their unique techniques of working with actors and space, especially for the show. It took the actors six months of top secret rehearsals to master these unconventional methods of interacting with the audience.
Victor Carinha, director:
“Immersive theatre offers a unique opportunity to the spectator to get involved in the action both emotionally and physically: to engage via smell, and touch, to explore the space sensually, to interact with the actors and to ‘live through’ a storyline of their own.”
Mia Zanette, director:
“Immersive theatre is not just a 3-hour show. It’s a transversal reality where the spectator does not remain an outside observer. But truly becomes an integral part of the performance. By following one of the characters, every guest of the mansion discovers something new about themselves.”
On exceptional occasions, the Alving Mansion closes its doors for the selected few.
A private show is an opportunity to take part in a unique performance and to push the boundaries of what is permissible. A sweet room for the ladies: a bath filled to the brim with chocolate; 10 types of delicious Chinese tea; an in-house jazz quartet Ibsen band and other secrets of the Mansion accessible only private viewing participants.
A private show means more freedom for the participants. Opening up new dimensions of the show and pushing the boundaries of perception.
In the building of the first immersive theater in Moscow, at Dashkov Pereulok 5, a bar began to work. The concept of the bar card is inspired by the work of Henrik Ibsen. The main motifs of the works of the classic are embodied in a series of author’s cocktails.
