Near Krasnoyarsk (20 mins by car from center) there’s a national park Stolby – a very diverse natural area with unusual cliffs.Krasnoyarsk lies along Yenisei river — one of the most beautiful and powerful rivers of Siberia. Putorana Plateau is a heavily dissected mountain range located in the northwest of the Central Siberian plateau. In the north and west, the plateau ends abrupt ledge (800 and more m.), While the southern and eastern parts are characterized by gentle slopes.
The maximum height of the plateau is 1701 m, among the highest peaks of Mount Kamen (1701 m.), Holokit (1542 m.), Kotuyskaya (1510). In the north the Putorana Plateau borders on the Taimyr Peninsula. The name Putorana in the translation from Evenk means "lakes with steep banks".
On the territory of the plateau is the Putorana State Nature Reserve, recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. The administrative plateau is located in the north-west of the Krasnoyarsk Territory, occupying the territory of the Taimyr and Evenk municipal districts. The nearest major settlement is the city of Norilsk.

Located in the eastern part of the Kuraginsky District, near the border with the Irkutsk Oblast, in the sparsely populated region of Siberia, it’s a famous place, but rarely visited because of the difficult terrain and its remote location.
The Kinzelyuk Mountain is part of the Kinzelyuk Ridge. The entire mountainous region is known as the Eastern Sayan Mountains.
Stolby is one of the the oldest natural reserves in Russia. It was founded in 1925th by the initiative of the local people, who were fighting for the preservation of the forests and mountains of the area. Historical journey to Krasnoyarsk Stolby
The taiga landscape, followed by the forest-steppe sceneries, creates the natural diversity of the park. The name Stolby (Pillars) was given for the unusually shaped mountains - the landmark of the region. These mountains originally were chilled magma, which were hidden underground. During million years of erosion mountains came out and got the shape they have now.
Nowadays touristic area of the National Nature Reserve "Stolby" is a well kept zone, with comfortable wooden pathes, tent area, fire places and guest houses, which are suitable for people with disabilities. Guest houses were originally planned for the scientists and students. Who would come to research flora and fauna of the reserve.
From the Krasnoyarsk city there are several busses going to the area, trip from the bus stop to the border line of the Natural Reserve "Stolby" is 2 km, and to the mountain area 5 km more. In order to peacefully enjoy the nature and not to get lost, it is recommended to take a map at the entrance.
