Moscow – leisurely. Walking around the Zamoskvorechye from the Serpukhov Square
We will walk with you from the Serpukhov Square along Bolshaya Polyanka Street, then turn into the alleys of the Kazachyaya Sloboda, find ourselves on the Vspolye and walk along Bolshaya Ordynka back to the Serpukhov Square. We will view the merchant city estates, the Zamoskvoretsky churches, the tenement buildings and even paradoxical examples of modern architecture. All this will be arranged in a curious line, and we will try not to miss something important, beautiful or simply remarkable.
On our way we will meet the panel of the Volgograd townsman Mikhail Pyshty, the knightly “organ-like house”, we will view through the fence a strange wooden house with a constructivist window, see a sad “nobody’s attic story”, and find many more architectural surprises. We will feel how, through demolition and conversion, despite all the intrusions in the architectural tissue, our beloved city comes up again and again with incredible and inexplicable force.
