The Curonian Spit is a 98 km long, thin, curved sand-dune spit that separates the Curonian Lagoon from the Baltic Sea coast. Its southern portion lies within Kaliningrad Oblast, Russia and its northern within southwestern Lithuania.

The visitor center “Museum complex” includes facilities with permanent exhibitions, the Museum of the Russian Superstitions and the “Ancient Sambia” open-air museum. “The trail of sensations” is open on the territory of the complex – this is an unusual way to explore the landscape of the Curonian Spit: you should take off your shoes and walk through the diversity of the spit reliefs with your eyes closed.
Opening hours from October 1 to April 30: 09:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. From May 1 to September 30, the visitor center “Museum complex” is open seven days a week.
“Muller height” route – the height of the viewpoint offers an unforgettable view of the Curonian Lagoon and the Baltic Sea. This area is the oldest part of the spit – the island of glacial origin Rasyte. Which served as the basis for the formation of the sandy peninsula body.
The mysterious route “Dancing forest” will introduce you to an unusual pine forest, whose trees have bizarre curved shape. There are many versions explaining this anomaly. According to one of them, the Germans tested chemical weapons in this area, which led to these deviations.
“Efa height” route – near Morskoye village there is one of the highest dunes in Europe – the Orekhovaya (Petsh) dune. The highest point of the dune – 62 meters – was named the Efa height after the dune inspector Franz Efa.
